Population biology of plant pathogens
Prof. Eduardo S. G. Mizubuti
My research program involves two major areas of interest: evolutionary genetics of plant pathogen populations and molecular epidemiology of plant diseases. The final goal is to improve management of important plant diseases. The pathosystems we study are:
Potato and Tomato x Late Blight, Early Blight and Bacterial Wilt
— Phytophthora infestans
— Alternaria grandis and A. linariae (the old A. tomatophila)
— Ralstonia solanacearum
Rubber x South American Leaf Blight and Foliar Anthracnose
— Pseudocercopora ulei (previously known as Microcyclus ulei)
— Colletotrichum spp.
Common bean x White mold
— Sclerotinia sclerotiorum
Banana x Fusarium Wilt (Panama disease) – recently started project
— Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense
Postdoctoral fellowship available
We are in the process of hiring a postdoctoral researcher to work in a project involving fungicide resistance in Phytophthora infestans. Click here for more information.
